A Little Piece of Heaven

All my blog posts are usually done via my laptop but I’m blogging on the go right now because I’ve just tasted the best pie in the world and I have to tell the world about it.

The Weighbridge Inn in Stroud, Gloucestershire, is home to the 2in1 pie – a pot consisting of half pie and half cauliflower cheese, however the place also serves a full pie in a pot if you’re not keen on cauliflower cheese. I think today’s visit will have been my fourth trip to the Weighbridge – we call in every time we visit my boyfriend’s mum in Stroud – and each time, I take to Twitter to rave about the pie but today, it deserves a mention on my blog.

I always opt for the full pie, not because I don’t like cauliflower cheese but because the shortcrust pastry lids on these pies are so melt in the mouth that I want as much of it as I can! The pies come with a variety of fillings, the staff are always friendly and helpful and what’s more, you can enjoy a pint of Old Spot with your pie, which is a gorgeously smooth real ale brewed locally. Even better, the pub serves Bake at Home pays that you can take away and, well, bake at home and you get your own authentic Weighbridge pie bowl to keep.

Being a typical Yorkshire bird, I’ve tried plenty of pies in my time but these ones are something special. If you’re ever in this neck of the woods, the Weighbridge is well worth a visit.
